27 février 2014
The Garage à musique of the Fondation du Dr Julien today received a $10,000 donation from Ubisoft® and the Simple Plan Foundation. The donation will be used to fund the Lab à musique, a project developed by the Garage à musique to offer musical improvisations led sessions. Youth learn to explore their own musical universe and to work with the basics of music, in addition to gaining experience in the studio.
The event took place in the premises of the Garage à musique, in front of representatives of Ubisoft (Ms Lucile Bousquet), the Garage à musique (Ms Hélène Sioui Trudel), the Simple Plan Foundation (Mr André Comeau), and also two members of Simple Plan, Jeff Stinco and Sébastien Lefebvre, a presence much appreciated by the kids attending.
The event included a musical jam session between the children helped by the Garage à musique and members of Simple Plan as well as a tour of the facility.

PRECEEDED BY DONATIONS OF $265 000, THE SIMPLE PLAN & FRIENDS BENEFIT CONCERT WAS A SUCCESS
18 novembre 2013
A very succesful benefit concert event
Simple Plan fans and supporters of the Simple Plan Foundation were once again out in full force to show their support this year, packing the Corona Theater in Montreal on November 12th for the Simple Plan and Friends benefit concert ; it was a chance to see their favorite band perform alongside Coeur de Pirate and Les Trois Accords in a unique intimate setting, in the hopes of raising funds & awareness for various youth oriented causes. The event was brilliantly hosted by Anne-Marie Withenshaw who guided the spirited proceedings with expertise.
Fans got a chance to meet with their idols prior to the concert, take photos & get autographs from the artists, while also having the chance to participate in an auction for various memorabilia items. The biggest surprise of the evening came during Simple Plan’s set when the band premiered a brand new song, Lucky One which will be included on the band’s upcoming EP to be launched before the end of the year.
We are very proud to announce that the Fondation has reached it’s goal of amassing $150 000. Very happy, but mostly very grateful for all of those who contributed in their own way to this successful benefit event: partners, donators, sponsors, collaborators and volunteers, without whom none of this would have been possible. Many thanks to all those present who, with their active participation & enthusiasm, helped make this year’s event a complete success.
Thank you for your support !

A record year for donations, over $265 000
As is the case before every benefit event, The Simple Plan Foundation announced this year’s recipients, a list of over 20 organisations dedicated to working with & helping young people, for a total of $265 000. To this day this is the largest amount of annual donations since the Foundation began operating in December 2005, and brings the amount of total donations to $1.265 M.
In keeping with the spirit of the changes brought on last year, the Foundation strives to privilege a few select organisations who best represent it’s objectives with a more substantial donation. The Foundation’s goal is to help establish significant projects, clearly defined and better structured. CHU Ste-Justine’s partnership proposal perfectly fits this objective, which is why the Foundation has decided to donate a larger amount than usual, $50 000 for the L’Espace Transition project, aiming to make available art in all of its shapes and forms to the service of children and teens throughout the hospital.
Besides Ste-Jutine, the two chosen organisations are Les Centres jeunesse du Québec, for the establishement of an employement creation plan for youth, and also the Dr. Julien Foundation for the consolidation and development of their Garage à Musique program, which gives struggling youngsters access to activities to help stimulate their development.
Additionally, the Simple Plan Foundation continues on its mission to help various organisations who support worthwhile causes, such as bringing an end to intimidation & bullying. Having already contributed to both GRIS and Tel-Jeunes, this year sees the addition of Peace Grantmakers Network to the list of recipients, an organisation who is about to launch a series of symposiums across Canada to promote education about this growing affliction among our youth.
On the International front, the Foundation maintains its involvement with victims of war, natural disasters and human trafficking. A last minute decision was made this year to include a generous donation to the Canadian Red Cross for the victims of typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

JEFF DONATES HIS GUITAR TO UNIVERSITÉ DE SHERBROOKE SCHOOL OF MUSIC
1 octobre 2013
Earlier this morning, in celebration of International Music Day, the Université de Sherbrooke's School of Music received a very special, one of a kind gift from Jeff, his very own guitar!
As a invited dignitary to the university, Jeff came to donate his guitar in person to the faculty and give one final performance with it before passing it on to the next generation of musicians at the school. Étienne Déziel is the lucky classical guitar student at the School of Music who will use Jeff's guitar during his entire undergraduate career. He also gave a performance on the guitar during the event, and the Université de Sherbrooke got this photo of Jeff and Étienne below!
Jeff explains, "Handing over my own guitar, which I used as a student of the Montréal conservatory, is a symbolic gesture, I couldn't imagine passing it on to anyone not in the next generation of musicians...this guitar let me develop my potential and I hope that it will do the same for the student receiving it. The guitar holds a great deal of sentimental value for me. It has a number of outstanding qualities. Its high level of precision charmed me and the guitar has the gift of amplifying what the player asks of it."
Check out LaPress.ca for more news on the event and a video interview with Jeff!

In Le Support's newest campaign to encourage more donations of goods, Jeff has joined the cause and donated some clothing of his own. Have a look at the campaign poster and hit lesupport.ca for more info on how you can schedule a pickup of items you no longer need.
SP IN VIETNAM: RAISING AWARENESS & TAKING ACTION
10 septembre 2013
When Simple Plan visited Vietnam with MTV Exit, they performed at My Dinh Stadium for over 40 000 youth. The purpose of the event wasn't just to bring together everyone for a night of music, but to bring everyone together in the journey to end human trafficking and modern slavery, an issue that affects people everywhere in the world. Taking action to help improve the well-being and safety of yourself, others and your community is important. But before you take action, it’s important to know what the issues are, the signs associated with those issues and what steps you can take to initiate positive change.
Tara Dermott, Head of Development at MTVExit, recently wrote a guest column in The Guardian on the importance of both awareness and action, and how Simple Plan helped bring awareness of the realities of human trafficking to local, regional and global youth with their documentary. Read Tara's article in The Guardian here.

23 juillet 2013
After the terrible train accident that has devastated the city center of Lac-Mégantic, the members of Simple Plan felt they had to do something to help the victims of this tragedy, that affects the population of the whole region. The Simple Plan Foundation has decided to make a donation of $10 000 to the city of Lac-Mégantic. The city should be in the position to use the funds in the best way to help the victims of that terrible accident. According to its mission, the foundation would appreciate that a particular attention be given to the challenges that young people will have to face in these difficult times.
The members of the group also invite all their fans to join them and take part in the efforts to support the people.
